Suspected leftist insurgents killed at least 15 police and a civilian driver in a landmine attack on two security vehicles on Wednesday in the western state of Maharashtra in India, police said, as the state celebrated its foundation day.
The Maoist insurgents, known as Naxals, have battled the state for decades, saying they are fighting for people left out of a long economic boom in Asia’s third-largest economy.
Security forces killed at least 37 Maoist militants last year in Gadchiroli, the same district where Wednesday’s attack took place.
In a post shared on Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack.

India union, instead of focusing on peace and welfare of its people is buying foreign arms and war mongering. A recipe for a disastrous fate like the Soviet union.

Maoists can not win by killing people. These are the kind of people behind Stalinist purges and the so-called Cultural Revolution in China that killed people in thousands. They thirst for blood, whether in power or not.

Gadchiroli and surrounding area is a densely forest area which is also known for its backwardness. The tribesmen ( known as Adivasi )staying there are innocent people. Maoist work with tribesmen to destabilize local administration and try to implement their own set of rules. These Maoist do not prefer any development in the region as it will affect their earnings and hold over local people. Unfortunately, there are hardly people who work with local people from civilian society. The statecraft has no option but to use of force to tackle Maoist people. But most of the time innocent gets killed whether they are poor tribesmen or police force.

If someone here blamed Pakistan or ISI for this ,I for one will never accept it .This is failour of police training and policy to deal with genuine needs of locals.
In this age , expectations become high for a common citizen and merely lip service to deal with those expectations results into this.

These attacks are result of Indian atrocities against the people in red corridor. Poll from those areas clearly show that locals support Naxals more then Indian army. India should stop its atrocities against people from red corridor and hold talks with naxals.

@bhaRAT©, Height of ignorance. They are naxalites -variant of communism prohibited in Pakistan-who oppose capitalism altogether. They don't believe in democracy and validate violence to achieve their goals.
We are a democracy and allow plurality. And insuch a big country such deviant political views can't be curtailed. But violence is difficult to contain because they have support inside and outside of the country.
They are not asking for freedom.
