KARACHI: National women’s selection committee on Saturday announced the Pakistan squads for next month’s ICC Women’s Championship and T20 International series against South Africa.

The Urooj Mumtaz-headed selection committee has made just one change to the 14-member Pakistan squad that defeated their West Indies counterparts 2-1 in the ODI series held in the UAE earlier this year.

Off-spinner Saba Nazir has been replaced by uncapped spinner Rameen Shamim while Jaweria Rauf, who last appeared in an ODI in January 2014, has been recalled.

In the T20 International squad, there are two changes from Pakistan’s last series against the West Indies staged at Karachi’s Southend Club ground during January-February this year. The tourists won the three-match rubber 2-1. From the 14-player squad, Anam Amin and Natalia Pervaiz have been replaced by Jaweria Rauf and Kainat Imtiaz while Rameen Shamin has also found a place in the national T20 party.

In addition, the selectors have also named four reserves — Fareeha Mehmood, Fatima Sana, Muneeba Ali and Saba Nazir.

Meanwhile, Urooj said: “We have rewarded the girls for their outstanding achievements against the West Indies by maintaining consistency in the ODI squad, while we have made some tweaks in the T20 squad as we look forward to next year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.”
