LAHORE: A judicial magistrate at Model Town Courts on Monday sent a man and his employee to jail on judicial remand for their involvement in torturing the former’s wife and shaving her head off, allegedly for refusing to dance before the friends of her husband.

Kahna police had arrested the suspects after a video clip of the victim, Asma Aziz, went viral on social media and news channels in which she narrated her ordeal.

She alleged that her husband Mian Faisal would invite his friends at their house and force her to dance to entertain them.

On the day of the incident, she said Faisal as usual forced her to dance for his friends he had invited at their house. When she refused to fulfill his demand, he started beating her up with a plastic pipe and then shaved her head off with the help of his employee, Rashid Ali.

The woman had married Faisal four years ago who, she said, turned hostile and started misbehaving and torturing her over petty issues after six months of their marriage.

During the Monday’s proceedings of remand, the complainant told the court that her husband had also tried to kill with a knife and she received bruises in the attack.

The investigating officer stated that medical report of the victim was yet to be received by the police. He said more offences could be included in the FIR if the medical report established charges of knife attack.

The Magistrate, Shahid Zia, sent the suspects to jail on judicial remand till submission of the complainant’s medical report.

Outside the court, suspect Faisal complained the media was running one-sided story of the incident. He said he was ready to accept any punishment if found guilty. However, he sought one-hour time on the media to narrate his side of the story.
