ISLAMABAD: An 18-year-old maid died in the house of her employer, sources told Dawn.

The incident came to light when staff of a private hospital informed the police about the girl who was brought to the hospital breathless.

The maid was pregnant and died unnaturally, the police said, adding that a case of rape and murder had been registered and the employer’s son was arrested on suspicion. The victim was a native of Khanewal.

Postmortem on the girl’s body at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) revealed that the victim was pregnant.

However, there was no sign of assault or resistance and marks of injuries on the victim’s body, the police said, adding that the cause of death was yet to be established

Samples were taken from the victim’s body for tests, including chemical test to ascertain the cause of death.

The DNA test will also be carried out to identify the accused. The police will produce two suspects, including the employer’s 25-year-old-son in the court for seeking physical remand.
