CHAKWAL: Five people died in different areas of the district on Sunday, police said.

In the first incident, three people were killed and six injured in the collision of a motorcycle and a car near Talagang.

The three passengers on a motorcycle – identified as Abdul Jabbar, his wife and his sister-in-law – were killed instantly after the vehicle collided with a car coming from the opposite direction on the Talagang bypass.

The six passengers in the car were critically injured.

Rescue 1122 personnel moved the injured and the deceased to the City Hospital, where the injured were referred to Rawalpindi due to their condition.

Saddar Station House Officer Mohammad Afzal told Dawn a case was registered against the car’s driver, who is among those injured.

“We have impounded the car, and the driver is being treated at a hospital in Rawalpindi,” he said.

In another incident, a man was shot and killed over a dispute involving a cricket match, police sources said.

The victim has been identified as Mohsin Shahzad, 25, a resident of Thoha Maharm village in Talagang tehsil. Shahzad allegedly fought with other players in a cricket match a day before, and he and his friends went to see the other party the next day and physically assaulted an individual.
