LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore on Monday filed another reference against former principal secretary to the prime minister Fawad Hassan Fawad in the accountability court for holding assets beyond his means.

In the reference, the bureau accused Mr Fawad of making assets worth Rs1.9 billion through illegal means. His assets included a five-kanal commercial plot valued at Rs500 million in Rawalpindi’s Saddar area and had shares in a 15-storey plaza in Saddar [Rawalpindi], it said and added the suspect had also made assets in the name of his family members.

The NAB said on March 15 its chairman had approved filing of the reference against Fawad.

Last month, the Lahore High Court granted bail to Fawad in the Ashiana-i-Iqbal housing scheme [Lahore case] along with PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif.

Mr Hasan has been in jail on judicial remand.
