SPSC posts

Published March 12, 2019

THIS refers to the Sindh Public Service Commission’s (SPSC) consolidated advertisement for 1,148 posts of subject specialists (BPS-17) in education department on Feb 22.

The SPSC has declared MSc with MEd as a mandatory for the said posts. We all know that MEd takes four years to complete and the student has to complete BEd first before studying for MEd.

Considering this, this is injustice with the fresh post-graduates, who have recently completed their master’s. Secondly, SPSC has fixed 21 as the minimum age for these posts.

Now the question is: is it possible for a 21-year-old student to have a master’s with the degree of MEd? Obviously, it is not possible. I think it will not be wrong to say that these posts have been announced only for a particular class, not for the fresh candidates.

Unfortunately, in our country unemployment ratio is increasing day by day, which has created an alarming situation in our society. This SPSC advertisement has added fuel to fire.

I urge the chief justice of Sindh High Court and Sindh chief minister to ensure justice with fresh graduates before the closing date applying for the vacancies which is March 22.
