RAWALPINDI: The government has put three government hospitals in the garrison city on red alert and directed the administrations to make arrangement to deal with any emergency.

After tension on the borders between Pakistan and India, the Punjab government asked all the hospitals across the province to cancel leaves of doctors, nurses and the paramedical staff in the government run hospitals.

Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Umer told Dawn that leaves and offs of the doctors, nurses and the paramedical staff had been canceled with immediate effect medicines had been made available in abundance.

He said the three hospitals had been asked to allocate beds in emergency department and keep the equipments in running condition.

“The hospitals had been asked to conduct mock exercise for disaster management. The doctors and nurses will be made available round the clock and some staff would be put on call basis,” he said.

He said he would visit the three hospitals in the city areas to check their preparedness.

“We had enough stock of medicines and more will be procured in next two days,” he said.
