KARAK: Karak police on Sunday foiled an attempt to smuggle a huge cache of drugs and arrested two persons.

DSP Takht-i-Nusrati Sajid Mumtaz told a press conference on Sunday that acting on a tip-off a police party intercepted two cars and on search recovered 2.560 kilogramme ice and 3.2 kilogramme of hashish from the hidden parts of the vehicles.

The police arrested two accused identified as Umer Daraz and Adil Rehman, residents of Sarki Lawagher.

The police officer said there were complaints from different sections of society about the increasing trend of narcotics use in Takht-i-Nusrati, especially among the youngsters, due to easily availability of drugs.

He claimed there was a network of drug smugglers operating in the district, supplying drugs from tribal districts to Karak.

SSC EXAMS: Chairman Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat, Abdur Raqeeb has said section 144 will be imposed in the limits of examination halls during the upcoming secondary school certificate examinations and CCTV cameras will be installed in all the centres to root out cheating culture.

Talking to mediapersons on Sunday, he said the examinations were scheduled to be commenced from March 14. He said foolproof security arrangements had been made for holding the examinations.

He insisted that examination centres would be allowed only in those schools where the CCTV cameras were installed.

He said the examination duties would be given to teachers through a draw system to make deployment of duty staff transparently.

BODIES HANDED OVER TO RELATIVES: Four charred bodies of the passengers, who were burnt alive in a road accident near Tabbikhwa on Indus Highway recently, were handed over to relatives on Sunday. Police said the five unclaimed bodies of the victims of the road accident were buried in Tangori Sar graveyard temporarily and now their relatives had contacted them for taking the bodies.

The bodies of the four victims hailing from Peshawar, Lakki Marwat, Kohat and South Waziristan were exhumed and handed over to relatives. They said body of one passenger was still unclaimed.
