LONDON: Last night [Feb 15] was the biggest date in the calendar for air assault on Germany. Berlin — the main objective — staggered under a record “Blitz” of over 2,500 tons of bombs — 200 tons more than the previous record total on January 20. Well over 1,000 aircraft poured down in only 20 minutes, a cascade of high explosive and incendiaries to end the fortnight’s respite which Berliners have had since the last attack.

A secondary attack was made by a small force of Lancasters on Frankfurt. Last night’s attack on Berlin was the 15th major assault since the battle of Berlin began. It is reasonable to suppose that many of the most important Government offices have been evacuated from the Capital, but there still remain some vital war factories which must be dealt with before the city ceases to be of value to the German war machinery, and R.A.F. pounding will not end until all vestiges of these have disappeared.

[Meanwhile, as reported from New York,] the Film Comedian, Joe E. Brown, has just returned to the United States from his third overseas tour of 47,000 miles in which he entertained at army camps and hospitals on many fronts, including China, India, Middle East, South Pacific and Italy.
