There was no issue of the newspaper on Feb 15, 1969 on account of a general strike. The following extract is from the previous day’s issue.

KARACHI: Leaders of the Opposition parties yesterday [Feb 13] appealed to the people to observe complete strike throughout the country today. They have also appealed to the people to remain peaceful and orderly during the processions and public meetings and demonstrations that will be held today.

In Lahore, the Democractic Action Committee released an appeal ... in which they also called upon the Opposition workers to ensure that no anti-social element entered in their ranks and thereby harmed the movement for the restoration of democracy and national unity. The DAC leaders said that they were proud of the fortitude and courage demonstrated by the people during the movement that got great momentum during the last three months. They expressed the hope that the nationwide strike today would be a complete success. ... The call of the DAC for the general strike today has been supported by labour unions, student organisations, transporters, etc. The Acting Chairman of the People’s Party, Mr J.A. Rahim, also announced his party’s participation in the strike at a Press conference in Karachi yesterday. — Correspondent
