PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency on Tuesday arrested two men under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for uploading objectionable fake photos of two women to different social media forums.

The FIA cyber crimes circle has registered FIRs against the two suspects identified as Fakhre Alam of Faqirabad Peshawar, and Ahmed Zaib of Topi, Swabi district.

Against the suspect Fakhre Alam, a woman had lodged a complaint stating that someone had been defaming her through uploading her fake objectionable photographs on social media forums, including Facebook and Instagram.

The FIA stated that during inquiry it transpired that the fake accounts were created through a cellular phone and the said phone number was found to be in the name of Ishfaq Ahmad, whose statement was recorded in which he claimed the number was in use of suspect Fakhre Alam.

Similarly, the second suspect, Ahmad Zaib, was arrested on complaint of another woman who alleged that someone had been blackmailing her by sending her objectionable photos through Whatsapp.

During inquiry, the FIA claimed a person named Jihad Ali also confirmed that he had received objectionable photos of the complainant on Whatsapp from the suspect, Ahmad Zaib.
