KHAR: Scores of students and youths on Monday demonstrated against the Bajaur Levies personnel for torturing their colleagues.

The protesters blocked the Khar road for vehicular traffic for hours, accusing the Levies officials deployed at banks of beating up a number of their colleagues while they were deposing fees there.

The protesters said it was not the first time that Levies officials deployed at the banks had manhandled the students.

They urged the district administration to arrest the Levies officials immediately and give them exemplary punishment.

They also asked the administration to remove the illiterate and rude Levies officials from banks and other public places and replace them with educated and good-mannered officials.

The protest ended when senior officials of Bajaur Levies and administration met them and assured of initiating action against the guilty Levies officials.
