PHA Multan officials booked for corruption

MULTAN: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) lodged a case against five officers of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) here over alleged corruption in the funds allocated to beautification and plantation on the Metro bus service route.

In a letter to the circle officer, ACE Administrative Officer Ghaffar Ali said that the authority had approved registration of a case against PHA Engineering Director Khalid Hayat, Deputy Director Adnan Butt, Assistant Director Mohibullah, Sub-Engineer Safdar Abbas and Contractor Majeed Khan for embezzlement in the funds of beautification and plantation.

“An inquiry is dropped to the extent of all others with the observation that the investigation officer shall further seek permission against anyone else found involved as the inquiry officers have generally observed that some allegations shall be thrashed out during investigation,” the letter added.

The case was lodged under sections 409, 420, 109 of PPC and section 5(2)47 of Prevention of Corruption Act 1947.

ENCROACHERS: Multan Development Authority Additional Director General Chaudhry Muhammad Anwar says strict action will be taken against the illegal housing schemes, land grabbers and encroachers.

He said this while presiding over a meeting of officers from enforcement, legal cell, estate, estate and land management departments besides the administrative officers.

He directed the deputy director enforcement to accelerate the operation against encroachments that should be conducted daily on the roads under the MDA’s control.

He said that the mafia involved in illegal housing schemes should be dealt with strictly, while lists of people who were continuing commercial activities in katchi abadies compiled and action taken against them.
