LAKKI MARWAT: The SNGPL workers demonstrated in Lakki city on Friday against the arrest of three employees of the company by the Federal Investigation Agency in Peshawar on corruption charges.

The protesting employees wore black armbands to show their anger over what they called illegal and unjustified arrest of their colleagues. They also observed a strike and suspended office work and field activities.

Later, the protesters took out a procession from the office building and marched on Lakki-Tajazai road, carrying banners inscribed with slogans highlighting their demands and condemning the colleagues’ arrest.

The employees’ union leaders said the arrests had been made without prior inquiry by the FIA.

They said the arrested employees had already been exonerated of the charges during a departmental inquiry.

The employees demanded of the government to order release of the workers immediately.
