LAHORE: Former Punjab governor and PPP leader Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood visited former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the Kot Lakhpat Jail here on Thursday.

The meeting lasted for 15 minutes and the conversation was held in a lighter vein.

Talking to Dawn after the meeting, the former governor said that Mr Sharif was quite hale and hearty, and that he found him calm and composed.

The PPP South Punjab president denied media reports that he carried any political message of his leadership for the imprisoned PML-N supremo.

“It was a personal and apolitical meeting. I’ve relations with Nawaz Sharif since 1985. As per tradition of the east it’s necessary to visit one at a time when one is in trouble.”

Makhdoom Ahmad said there’s enough time for politicking and that political meetings with Mr Sharif would also be held but at an appropriate time.
