Trial of alleged Czech drug smuggler completed at Lahore court

A court in Lahore has completed the trial of a Czech woman arrested last year on charges of attempting to smuggle heroin from Pakistan to Abu Dhabi.

During Tuesday's brief court hearing, 21-year-old Tereza Hluskova pleaded innocent. A judge will announce a verdict before the end of January and she faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Since her arrest in 2018, Hluskova has told investigators that she came to Pakistan to work as a model but that someone put narcotics into her luggage. She was arrested as she tried to board a flight for Abu Dhabi.

The woman claims she is a model and Czech diplomats have provided her legal assistance.

Pakistani authorities often make arrests of both Pakistanis and foreigners for transporting narcotics.

As per earlier news at the time of her arrest she was carrying 9kg of heroine, which if true means if she succeeded getting the package out, she would have been a millionaire.

She definitely seems innocent, Girls cannot do these things alone, She must be given fine or something, she already spent two years in Jail. Dig and reach to the culprits not poor young girl. She does not even know English & Urdu. She definitely Deserve relaxation relief at least now. Jails should have CCTV and proper facilities too. Including heater and Air coolers etc. People are not animal. Plus no one in the world put people in Jail before court hearing . Change this 18th century barbarian law. Mentally distory human mindset. It’s Totally against the Human Right Act 2011

Tezera Hluskova the 21 year old Czech citizen was stupid to be smuggling drugs to Dubai. If she is convicted by the court, she should be sent to her country for completing her sentence. She has learned her lesson, and it would be a humanitarian and compassionate gesture to send her back. Holding her in a Pakistani prison is tough enough for hardened criminals / murders, she would not be able to survive the unbearable hardship. The people of Pakistan ask for her forgiveness.

The poor east Europeans think that they are exempt from all laws of local countries .... because they think they are a part of Europe and hence more economically developed and hence more politically powerful!! She is lucky ... if she was arrested in Dubai or UAE it would mean the death penalty.
