LAHORE: A group show of artworks by four artists opened at Mussawir Art Gallery, Packages Mall, on Thursday.

The exhibition featured 24 pieces and the participating artists are Akram Spaul, K. Mehmood, Zahid Saleem and Hala Nasir.

Akram Spaul, who is into realism and architectural art through his paintings, came up with a reflection of past and present living, cultural behaviours based on daily observation of common objects. His oil painted doors, windows and buildings carried not only the pulse of cultural life but also the good choice of colours gave his artworks a look of their own. K. Mehmood’s works are the celebration of Lahori lifestyle and the mystic aura the city wears. Lahore is artist’s life and its crumbling facade is a reminiscence of its glorious past, its labyrinth full of daily life routine, needed to be recorded and conserved before it completely disappears. The artist’s work speaks volumes of the much ignored issues Lahorites are facing. The artworks by K. Mehmood are a tribute to Lahore.

Zahid Saleem’s artworks are also reflective of his love for Lahore and the romance he has with its cultural life. The artist shows his spiritual affiliation with Lahore and his love for experimenting with different colours.

Hala Nasir’s works revolved around the negation a child faced by one’s parents in certain cases. The psychological boundaries the artist brushed around were the outcomes of that negation that later shapes into low self-esteem, lack of attention, and a violent and aggressive behaviour of the child. The artist has depicted the story of those parents who do not have time for their children. The artist believes that to lead a happy and a balanced life a child needs proper care and attention.

The exhibition will continue for a week.
