FAISALABAD: The 41st Commissioner International Gold Cup Kabaddi Tournament will begin from Thursday with teams from India and Iran also taking part.

Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, Faisalabad commissioner Asif Iqbal said the championship would be held at the Iqbal Stadium and conclude on January 7 with 15 teams taking part.

Apart from India and Iran, the competing teams will be Punjab, Khyber Pahtun­khwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Police, Pakistan Railways, Higher Education, Pakistan Air Force, Wapda, Sui Nort­hern Gas Pipelines Limited, Islamabad and Pakistan Ordinance Factories Wah Cant.

Asif added that Iran and India will face each other on Saturday with Pakistan Whites and Iran contesting the next day. Pakistan and India will compete on Monday.

The regional police officer, Ghulam Mehmood Dogar said that about 1000 policemen would be working to provide foolproof security arrangements.
