KARACHI, June 27: Two persons, including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement, were shot dead in separate incident in different parts of the city on Monday. Police said that Umar Din, 35, Muttahida Qaumi Movement activist, was shot dead by unknown persons on Nishtar Road.

According to the duty officer of Garden police station, Umar Din was returning home from his bearing shop at Nishtar Road when some men started chasing him. He took refuge in another shop where three suspects pulled up, shot at him and fled.

Police said that Umar was rushed to the Civil Hospital where he succumbed to injuries during treatment.

Following the incident, tension griped the whole area and shopkeepers pulled down their shutters. The bullet-riddled body of a young man was recovered from Bihar Colony, Jamshed Road on Monday morning.

Police said that the body was found from a narrow street at Jamshed Road. Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination. Following the autopsy, the body was sent to the Edhi morgue for identification.

Police suspected that the victim was shot elsewhere and his body was dumped in the street.

DROWNING: The bodies of two persons, who had drowned in Hub Canal on Sunday evening, was recovered late on Sunday night by Edhi volunteers.

Edhi sources said that the victim was identified as Zahid Zaheer, 11. He had come from Surjani Town along with his friends at the canal for picnic. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The body of an unidentified youth was recovered from Hub Canal. Edhi volunteers shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination following which it was shifted Edhi morgue for identification.
