LARKANA: No nation can survive and flourish without having a perfect and strong education system. We have to invest in youth, in human resources and in the education sector so as to ensure survival and progress of our nation.

This was observed by said Major General Tahir Hameed Shah, chairman of the board of governors of the Cadet College Larkana, while addressing the 27th Parents’ Day function of the institution held on it’s premises on Tuesday.

Speaking as the chief guest, appreciated the comprehensive arrangements for grooming and educating the youth at the college.

He congratulated and lauded all the winning cadets who excelled in their curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

He also appreciated the relentless efforts put in by the college faculty and said that teaching was the sublime mission which shaped the future generation of a country.

“Therefore, teachers have to rise to the occasion, realise the sanctity of their task and take pride in their profession.”

Describing the Cadet College Larkana as a highly reputable insti­tution in the province, he said: “We are proud of this institution for it is busy in distributing light of education among the youth of the country.”

He said only an educated person could differentiate between good and bad.

He inaugurated science, art and craft exhibition on the occasion and performed the launching ceremony of 26th issue of the college magazine Indus.

Maj-Gen Tahir Hameed Shah, who is the General Officer Comm­anding (GOC) 16 division, along with college principal retired Brigadier Ghulam Raza visited college’s library, archives, newly-built language lab, IT lab, squash court, Jinnah auditorium and the site earmarked for Shaheed Moh­tarma Benazir Bhutto Cadet College.

A smartly turned out formation of cadets presented the ‘guard of honour’.

After reviewing the parade, the chief guest handed over flag to the champion house — Shah Baharo House — while cadets performed a march past.

Cadets also demonstrated their skills in karate and gymnastics. A commando squad of young cadets took oath that they would defend their motherland.

On the occasion, the principal presented the annual progress report of the college. He also presented a college memento and a set of college publications to the chief guest. He said the college was not only imparting education to cadets but also taking care of their physical fitness.

He said cadets after passing out from this institution were now serving in various fields in different capacities. They were playing their role in the country’s progress and prosperity, he added.

The chief guest distributed awards and shields among the best teachers and cadets.
