APROPOS ‘Men and their manners’ (Dec 12). The writer has been writing articles out of sheer misandry. She ought to realise that the objective of such writing should be to bring about a positive change rather than create a negative perception about so-called educated woman.
The women in Pakistan have gained far more liberty than the writer thinks, and the women are more empowered than ever. However the statistics unfortunately suggest societal degeneration and collapse of family values with broken marriages as a result of this liberty and empowerment.

This uncouth behavior in public is very typical of a male Pakistani dressed in shalwar Kameez. Every Pakistani has witnessed this sort of behavior. Men do not think what they are doing, it comes almost naturally to them specially those who wear our national dress, why hasn't a sociologist ever taken research on this "mannerism" or subconscious behavior. We Pakistani's need to learn simple basic morals, ethics, civic sense, good behavior and manners, before we learn anything else, this is how nations are recognized, how people a behave in public, with each other and with strangers. We simply have not learnt and simply have not been taught, what is right what is wrong, what is good, what is bad, how to behave, how to talk politely, how to talk firmly but politely when we are angry. Many nations around the world make sure that children are taught these most important attributes at a very young age, we unfortunately because of our values do not know what is more important.
