THIS is with reference to the editorial titled ‘Ties with Tehran’ (April 24). The perception among some that it is because of Israel’s genocide in Gaza that Islamic countries are drawing closer to Iran is blatantly wrong. Iran has been an integral part of the Muslim world, and any further discussion is pointless.

Moreover, the West, led by the United States, continues stealing Muslim resources with a malicious policy of divide and rule. It does its best to pit Muslims against each other to keep its own arms and ammunition industry functional. Every now and then, Muslims naively drain their wealth in purchasing weapons to kill fellow Muslims. That needs to stop on an urgent basis. Unity is the key if we are serious about turning things around.
