BZU VC resigns from post

MULTAN: Bahauddin Zakariya University Vice Chancellor Dr Tahir Amin resigned on Wednesday, source told Dawn.

Governor/Chancellor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has accepted his resignation.

Sources said since the chancellor had received a number of complaints regarding Dr Amin’s misconduct, he had suggested him to resign from the post.

Special Education Secretary Sajid Zaffar who also is holding the additional charge of Higher Education Department secretary confirmed to Dawn that the department had moved a summary to the chancellor for the removal of Dr Amin for misconduct.

He said that two major allegations against Dr Amin were that he remained absent from the university and that he made a number of appointments in the university against rules and regulations.

He said that HED also forwarded a case of embezzlement against Dr Amin to the National Accountability Bureau.

He said that as the chancellor was the competent authority to whom the VC could submit his resignation and only the chancellor office could confirm about the resignation.

Dr Amin was not available for comment.
