MANSEHRA: Work on the Munchora dam resumed on Tuesday after remaining suspended for around a week.

The development comes as assistant commissioner Babar Khan Tanoli assured the affected landowners, who had forcibly stopped on the project, of the early resolution of their issues.

The AC told landowners that the project meant to irrigate Agror and Tanawal would create employment and other opportunities of development for the people in Oghi and adjoining areas.

He said the government was in the process of acquiring land to be affected by the dam and as soon as that process completed, the payment to landowners would begin.

Nazim of the Tarowro village council Ghulam Mohammad said the landowners had agreed to allow resumption of work on the project but they wanted market price for their land, and jobs. Also in the day, the Baffa police arrested Zeeshan alias Shani after seizing 850 grammes charas.

INAUGURATED: Work on the water diversion tunnel of 4,300 megawatts Dasu hydropower project was inaugurated on Tuesday.

General manager of Dasu hydropower project Javed Akhtar told the inaugural ceremony that delay in the completion of the project being executed in Upper Kohistan district wouldn’t be tolerated.

He asked local elders to offer support and cooperation for the project’s successful execution, which, he said, will help end electricity shortfall in the country.

Also in the day, the inland revenue department has announced that it will set up office in Kaghan valley to facilitate hoteliers and other businessmen.

“As the tourism industry is flourishing in Kaghan valley, we are going to set up our office in Kaghan valley by next June to facilitate hoteliers and other businessmen,” commissioner (inland revenue) Hayat Ali Khan told reporters here on Tuesday.
