Why make fun?

Published December 10, 2018

IN his recent speech to the nation, Prime Minister Imran Khan talked about providing chickens to poor households to combat poverty. Unfortunately, many people criticised him and made jokes about this. But, actually it will be a great step forward for pulling poor people out of poverty.

Recently, Bill Gates said he would distribute 100,000 chickens among the poor of different countries to bring them out of poverty. Like Imran Khan, he said it was a cheap and easy way to earn livelihood.

As owner of eight to 10 chickens one can have a flock of 40 chicks because chickens multiply on a constant basis. Besides, it empowers women to take active entrepreneurial roles in their community.

As chickens are almost entirely a women’s activity, poultry involves households.

Imran Khan should be appreciated for talking about the well-being of the common people instead of being criticised or ridiculed.
