KOHAT: Fourteen passengers were injured, five of them seriously, in a head-on collision between a Bannu-bound van and a truck near the Friendship tunnel toll plaza on Indus Highway here on Saturday.

The passenger van was coming from Peshawar. The accident occurred when brakes of the van failed and it rammed into the truck.

The rescue 1122 and police teams reached the scene and pulled out the passengers from the van and shifted them to the KDA teaching hospital.

The hospital sources said the injured included Hassan Shah, Mukammal Shah, Noor Anas Khan, Dil Nawaz Khan, Mohammad Aleem, Mohammad Rehman, Mohammad Adeel Khan, Abidullah, Rehmat Shah, Abdul Momin, Mohammad Murad, Gul Rehman, Akbar Ali Khan and Shahid Ahmed.

The police registered a case and launched further investigations after impounding both the vehicles.
