KARACHI: An antiterrorism court on Thursday reissued arrest warrants for two suspects absconding in a case pertaining to alleged provision of weapons to the killers of the Ismaili community members in the Safoora Goth bus carnage case.

The suspects — including former vice-chairman of the Fishermen Cooperative Society Sultan Qamar Siddiqui, his brother Hussain Umar Siddiqui, alias Shibli and Sajid Naeem, alias Peena — have been accused of allegedly providing weapons to the main accused, who shot dead around 47 members of the Ismaili community in May 2015.

As the matter was taken up before an ATC concerned, the judge reissued bailable warrants for arrest of Sultan Qamar Siddiqui and Hussain Umar Siddiqui, directing the investigating officer (IO) to arrest them and produce before the court on the next date of hearing. The matter was fixed for Dec 15.

The IO had named the Siddiqui brothers and Sajid Naeem as accused in a charge sheet for allegedly providing weapons and helping the main accused.

The SHC had released the trio on bail in December 2016 after one of their relatives had moved an application against the jail authorities seeking their release and contended that a military court had acquitted them.
