ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has lodged a strong protest with Bangladesh over a burglary at the residence of its ambassador in Dhaka, the Foreign Office said on Tuesday.

“Unknown burglars broke into the consular section of the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka and stole computers. The matter was immediately reported to Bangladesh police and an FIR lodged. The BD Foreign Office was also informed and strengthened security was requested,” the FO said.

It underscored that “the burglary in Pakistan High Commission is a matter of grave concern”.

“We have lodged a strong protest with Bangladeshi authorities, both in Dhaka and in Islamabad,” the Foreign Office stated.

“It has been underscored that as a host, it is the responsibility of the Bangladesh government to provide full security to the Pakistan High Commission.”

The Bangladesh government, the statement added, has been asked to carry out a thorough investigation, share the findings with Pakistan and bring the culprits to justice.
