PESHAWAR: MNA Arbab Sher Ali Khan has said that children need to be provided adequate sports opportunities to perform well in studies.
“I think in addition to study and academics it is important to have co-curricular and extracurricular activities for the students,” he said, while addressing as the chief guest the concluding ceremony of a sports festival at a private school here on Tuesday.
Mr Ali said he was working on a plan to build playing fields and parks for children.
He said: “At this young grooming stage in addition to what the school teaches our children it is also important for parents to teach them humanity, to take care of fellow beings and to be able to be better human beings along with better citizens and better Pakistanis.”
The lawmaker said it was encouraging that parents in large number had turned up which would encourage the students. “Children really look up to their parents. What a child becomes is usually reflection of his or her parents and unless we as parents become good role models our children are not going to grow up to their potentials.”Students at the colourful sports festival amused the audience with their sporting skills.
The students enthusiastically participated in different events, including physical training drill, exercises, races and games. The running races included short distance sprint, relay and hurdles.
At end of the event prizes were distributed among the winning players.
The visitors applauded the performances of the little students. The activities were performed with loud background music of different sports related songs.
