KARAK: The representatives of Shnawa Guddikhel have demanded of the authorities to restore power supply to the area as people are ready to pay the monthly electricity bills.

Addressing a press conference, Guddikhel village council nazim Malik Nawab Ali and councillors Hazrat Gul and others said here on Monday that power supply to the area had been disconnected for the last one year on the pretext of nonpayment of monthly bills by the locals.

They said that they made agreements several times with Pesco officials about payment of monthly bills but in vain. They said that people were ready to pay monthly bills regularly. They said that there was shortage of drinking water in the area owing of suspension of power supply.

The councillors demanded of the district government to take steps for restoration of power supply to the area and also make arrangements for supply of drinking water on emergency basis to union council.

They threatened to launch a protest if supply of electricity was not restored to the area.

NAZIM: Lobbying for election of Karak tehsil nazim is on its peak as polls for the slot are expected to be held on Thursday.

Sources said that an important meeting of tehsil councillors was held at the residence of Maulana Mehboob Janan, a member of Jamaat-i-Islami. The meeting was attended by eight of the total 15 councillors. They signed agreement to extend support to the JI councillor for the slot.

Sources said MPA Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel was in favour of JUI-F candidate Maulana Ismail Haqqani for the slot but the party councillors were not supporting him.

They said Maulana Mehboob Janan, Jehanzeb and Maulana Ismail Haqqani were in the run for the slot of tehsil nazim. They added that Maulana Mehboob Janan was also supported by councillors of PTI.

Sources said that elections for the tehsil nazim slot were expected to be held on Thursday.
