LAHORE: The West Pakistan Governor, Mr Mohammad Musa, today [Nov 16] once again warned that any further attempt by unruly elements to break public peace would recoil on them and they would have to suffer for their “criminal approach” to politics.

In his middle-of-the-month broadcast on the provincial hook-up of Radio Pakistan tonight, the Governor reminded these elements that in his broadcast a week ago he had warned these elements that they could not and would not be allowed to pursue their nefarious activities in this manner. The administration had shown commendable patience and forbearance in the face of extreme provocation, but there was a limit to everything.

He said “we were then obliged to arrest 15 of their ring leaders on Wednesday [Nov 13]. These persons had directly or indirectly incited the people to violence, thereby endangering the stable administration of the province and the life and property of the man in the street.”... “It seemed as if frustrated by their failure to come to power by constitutional means, and at the same time lacking courage to face the forces of law and order themselves, they used innocent members of the public to do their dirty work for them. They were out only to incite youthful minds to violence and vandalism,” he maintained.
