PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, has arrested Nihad Ali and Anjum Shehzad for their involvement in cheating public at large under the garb of illegal housing scheme of Al-Haram Model Town, Peshawar.

According to a statement issued here on Thursday, the accused in connivance with some other people had lured general public to invest their hard earned money in their ‘illegal’ housing society on the promise that they would provide amenities like parks/playgrounds, school, community hall, etc, but they did not provide the promised amenities.

The accused persons instead of fulfilling their commitments converted the land reserved for these amenities into residential and commercial plots in violation of the site development rules.

It was stated that scrutiny of the relevant record revealed that the administration of Al-Haram Model Town was operating the housing scheme illegally without obtaining no-objection certificate from the concerned authorities.

It was stated that the accused persons would be produced before the Accountability Court, Peshawar, for obtaining their physical remand for further investigations.
