LAHORE: Two Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentarians have requested the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman to change their region of investigation.

Khwaja Saad Rafiq and Salman Rafiq, both brothers and former ministers, have written to the NAB chief that they cannot expect fair investigation when contrary to all investigation laws and rules, Lahore DG Shahzad Saleem talked against them in various cases in multiple TV talk shows thus exposing his bias against them.

“The NAB DG’s action doesn’t conform to the code for public servants. He had no right to speak on an issue that’s under investigation and he’s part of the probe process,” says the application to retired Justice Javed Iqbal.

Alleging that the DG has become a stooge of their rivals, they demanded that investigations in various cases against them be transferred to some other region.

MNA Saad and MPA Salman in their applications alleged that the NAB investigators were bent upon involving them in a case of corruption and/or misuse of powers though there existed “no concrete evidence” against them and they had to approach the Lahore High Court for their pre-arrest bail. The Khwaja brothers pleaded that as they have always cooperated, the chairman should take notice of the situation and provide them their basic legal right to fair trial and due process.
