KARACHI: Police on Saturday night got control of a seminary and mosque in the Korangi area of Karachi after a clash between two groups left seven people injured, officials said.
“Police took control of both seminary and mosque to prevent the situation from deteriorating after the clash,” said Karachi East Zone DIG Amir Farooqi.
The officer said that seminary was controlled by one group while the mosque’s management was with the other group. The two groups often fought each other over ‘donations, water and plucking coconut from a coconut tree, etc’.
However, on Saturday night, simmering dispute took an ugly turn and seven persons got injured during the clash.
Meanwhile, Sindh IGP Dr Syed Kaleem Imam took notice of the incident and sought a detailed inquiry report from Korangi SSP, said a police spokesperson.
