KOHAT: Police arrested 13 drug sellers from different parts of the city on Sunday.

The operation against drug peddlers has been ordered by district police officer Wahid Mehmood. The police also arrested several criminals and seized five Kalashnikovs, two repeaters, three rifles, nine shotguns, three pistols, two kilogrammes of hashish, 90 grams of ice drug, 1.5 kilogrammes of heroin and 1,154 cartridges.

They arrested six people for firing in the air and registered cases against five others for living in rented houses without providing their bio data to the area police. Three Afghan refugees were arrested for illegally residing in the country and sent to prison for onward repatriation to their native country.

INSPECTION TEAM: The Peshawar High Court has constituted an inspection team on the complaint of a social welfare organisation against the consumer court for its alleged inefficiency.

The organisation headed by Zahid Hussain had written a complaint to the Supreme Court, alleging that the consumer court was not performing its duty according to the law and asking the victims and the departments to sort out differences among themselves.

As a result, the complainants of overbilling, bribery and delay in installation of meters and transformers by SNGPL and Pesco were subjected to mental torture. The SC marked the complaint to PHC, which designated an inspection team, headed by Mohammad Zubair, to deal with the case and conduct an inquiry which was in progress, Mr Hussain said while showing documents.
