ISLAMABAD: A 19-member Pakistan team will feature in the Commonwealth Judo Champ­ionships, scheduled to be held in the Indian city of Jaipur next month.

The Championships, which run from November 4 to 11, will be contested in masters, seniors, juniors and cadet categories.

“This will be our first ever full-fledged participation in an international event,” Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) vice-president Masood Ahmed said on Wednesday.

He said that it would be for the first time that Pakistan judokas would compete in the masters category of an international event.

“Pakistan Army’s Talib Hussain, Navy’s Imran Khan and Wapda’s Jamil Khokhar will contest the masters category,” he added.

Masood said that on the sidelines of the championships, elections for the Commonwealth Judo Association would also take place adding that Pakistan would vie for an executive committee seat.
