TIMERGARA: Nazim of Samarbagh tehsil Saeed Ahmad Bacha on Thursday asked the local farmers to use organic fertilisers due to the increasing prices of chemical fertilisers.

During a meeting with farmers in Samarbagh, the nazim said farmers should opt for organic fertilisers instead of chemical fertilisers to double produce.

He said a series of training workshops for farmers in that respect would be arranged in all 29 village councils of Samarbagh tehsil with the help and support of the agriculture department.

The nazim said the farmers would be taught ways to use organic fertilisers.

“If the animal waste and garbage are dumped properly, they will produce good organic fertiliser to give farmers better yields from their crops,” he said.

The participants, including agriculture inspector Shafiullah, naib nazim Bashirul Haq and agriculture expert Rahimullah, expressed concern about higher prices of chemical fertilisers and said the situation had distressed smalltime growers.

Meanwhile, the Anjuman Tajaran of Timergara on Thursday demanded the provision of finger print facility at the local Nadra centre to the relief of elderly and women pilgrims.

The association president told reporters that the Timergara Nadra centre lacked finger print facility and therefore, elderly pilgrims, especially women, were sent to Mingora for the purpose. He complained that the visitors had to wait for long hours at the Mingora Nadra facility for finger print.

Also in the day, the Lower Dir district administration and Balambat tehsil municipal administration jointly organised a walk in Rabat area as part of the Clean and Green Pakistan plantation campaign here on Thursday.

Balambat tehsil nazim Imranuddin and the Lower Dir deputy commissioner led the walk. Schoolchildren, councillors and local elders took part in the walk.

Also, a function was held at the Government High School, Rabat, where the deputy commissioner asked participants to plant at least one sapling.

He also asked them to keep their surroundings clean.
