ABBOTTABAD: Police seized 11 ancient sculptures from Gilgit-bound bus near Muslimabad checkpost here on Thursday.

According to details, the Abbottabad police got information that some stolen sculptures would be smuggled to Gilgit for selling them to foreign tourists there.

During checking of vehicles,the police searched a bus (GLTA 5835) coming from Rawalpindi and found four large and seven small sculptures loaded on top of the bus.

According to the police, the sculptures were owned by the bus conductor Ikhlaq Hussain, a resident of Gilgit. A case has been registered against him in the Cantt police station.

Meanwhile, the district police officer suspended three police officials in the light of recommendations of inquiry committee, headed by additional SP Abbottabad Sonia Shamroz, in the case of not registering the case of female victim of alleged rape incident.

The suspended officials included Shehzad, Umar and Sajjad. Increments of eight others were also stopped in the same case.
