HARIPUR: A man axed his two minor sons to death and injured his wife and sister in Beer union council, police said on Friday.

According to Beer police, one Shamas of Dalri village got infuriated over some unknown issue and attacked his wife Rashida Bibi with axe and then his sister Nazakat Bibi, leaving them injured. When the two ladies rushed inside room for safety the angry man hit his two sons, 20 days old Dohan and two and a half years old Shehzad, killing them on the spot.

He later escaped from the scene. Family sources said that Shamas had been mentally sick for the last few months and under treatment of a psychiatrist.

Meanwhile, armed bandits deprived a farmer of his five buffaloes and cash in Jama village. Khalabat Township police quoted one Mohammad Irfan as saying that he was at his farm with his son when at around 2am on Friday some 12 armed bandits entered the premises after scaling boundary wall.

The bandits tied the man and his son and made off with five buffaloes in a mini truck and Rs100,000 cash. The police have started search for the suspects.

LAID TO REST: Capt Zeeshan Wazir of Pakistan Navy was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard of Padni village of Khanpur tehsil here on Friday. He was missing after his helicopter crashed during routine exercise in the Arabian Sea on August 30.

However, his body was recovered on Wednesday evening and sent to his village where he was buried with complete honours. A contingent of Pakistan Navy presented a guard of honour on this occasion. A large number of local people attended the funeral.
