LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said the Sharif brothers are patrons of land mafia as their party deprived the poor of their properties.

Talking to reporters in the Punjab Assembly here on Wednesday, Mr Elahi said Shahbaz Sharif ruined departments during his 10-year tenure as chief minister.

He said credit went to the chief justice of Pakistan because he exposed corruption of the PML-N government.

Earlier in a meeting with Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at the assembly chamber, Mr Elahi said the province was vandalised during the last tenure of the PML-N in power.

He regretted that welfare projects initiated by the PML-Q government were stopped because Shahbaz Sharif had made it an issue of his personal ego. Because of such attitude, the general public suffered, he added.
