HARIPUR: A teenage girl on Thursday committed suicide in Kotnajibullah area here.

The police quoted Gohar Rehman of Chariyan village as saying that his 13-year-old daughter ended her life by having rodenticide after she was scolded by elder brother for not pressing his clothes.

He said the girl was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, whose doctors referred her to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, due to critical condition but she died before reaching there.

The postmortem was done on the body at the DHQ Hospital.

ARRESTED: The Haripur police claimed to have arrested a youngster on murder charge.

SHO of the City Police Station Siddique Shah said the bullet-riddled body of a man in his 30s was found in the orchards of Chohar Sharif village on Sept 1.

He said the man was later identified as Sadiq Jan of Khalabat Township, who had gone missing on August 30 under mysterious circumstances.

The SHO said the police registered FIR against unidentified gunmen killers but the records of the deceased’s mobile phone calls helped trace the killer.

He said 14-year-old Malikpur Mohallah resident Malik Abdullah was arrested on suspicion who confessed to killing the man, his close friend, over sexual harassment.

The police produced the suspect in the court of the judicial magistrate on Thursday and got his two-day remand.
