ABBOTTABAD: The District Bar Association has demanded the early construction of the judicial complex and proposed the use of the unutilised land of the Commissioner’s House for it.

President of the association Khan Gul Khan Jadoon told a news conference here on Thursday that the judicial complex required 30 kanals land and since the commissioner’s house had 90 kanals unused land, it could be used for the purpose.

Accompanied by other office-bearers of the association and senior lawyers, he said civil courts were scattered across the city causing problems for both lawyers and litigants.

He said the lawyers and litigants wasted time and money during movement from one court to another and therefore, the construction of the well-equipped judicial complex was direly needed.

Mr Jadoon said currently, 18 courts functioned at the old GTS Stand, while more than 400 lawyers and scores of litigants visited them.

He said the construction of judicial complex at that place would be a waste of time due to the shortage of space. The association president demanded that 30 kanals land be provided for the judicial complex from 90 kanals unused land of the commissioner’s house.

He said efforts were being made for the computerisation of the court records and the litigants would soon get access to case details online.

He also said the police witness process would also be done online, while the schedule of proceedings would be conveyed to applicants by mobile internet system.

MEDIA MOOT: A three-day Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists moot will begin here on Sept 28.

The event will be organised by the Abbottabad Union of Journalists at the local press club with council members from all over the country in attendance.

The participants will discuss the nationwide journalist issues, especiallythose about the Wage Board Award and sackings by media houses.

Abbottabad Union of Journalists president Sardar Naveed Alam formed committees to ensure the holding of the event in a befitting manner.
