ISLAMABAD: Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed would on Monday (today) brief the National Assembly on the last week’s train accident near Mianwali.

A calling attention notice on the accident was moved by members of National Assembly Aisha Ghaus, Shaista Pervaiz, Ali Zahid and Shaza Fatima Khawaja to invite attention of the railways minster towards the accident with the Khushhal Khan Khattak Express that occurred due to alleged negligence of the Pakistan Railways’ maintenance department.

The accident left 21 people injured.

On Sept 16 the Khushhal Khan Khattak Express was on its way to Peshawar when some of its bogies derailed between the Masaan and Sohan railway stations.

The train had begun its journey from Karachi.

It was not the first such incident. In December last year some bogies of the same train derailed near the Attock railway station due to which rail transport on the Rawalpindi-Peshawar section remained suspended for many hours.
