LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should answer all the legal questions raised by the Islamabad High Court during the trial, said Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Tahirul Qadri here on Wednesday.

Reacting to the suspension of sentence and release of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law, he said the NAB chairman must look into the lapses, if any, on the part of prosecution and take those responsible to the task.

Talking to his party office-bearers after arrival in Pakistan on Wednesday morning, he said if the entire system remained the same, officers were the same and bureaucracy was the same, how one could expect a different outcome. As long as the country does not have a new system of governance, the justice system would remain inconsistent.

Earlier, talking to the media on his arrival, he said Model Town victims are in search of justice for the last four years. Prime Minister Imran Khan had been speaking in support of justice for the Model Town victims for the last four years – from atop the containers. Now, the first test of the PTI government is suspension of 116 police officers and officials involved in the Model Town massacre.

Imran Khan himself, when in opposition, had been demanding the suspension.

“The PAT would keep struggling till the logical conclusion of the case,” he said and claimed that those pursuing the case, lawyers included, are being harassed by police officials because they are still are in active posts. It is time for Imran Khan to deliver on his promises.

“The PAT went into appeal in the Lahore High Court and arguments were completed some 10 weeks ago. But the decision is still reserved. The party lawyers are being beaten in court and with impunity. All this must stop,” he demanded.
