Traffic woes

Published September 19, 2018

APROPOS the letter on traffic chaos (Sept 4), the people of Karachi are impatient; there is a lack of awareness regarding traffic rules; ‘wrong-way’ driving has become a norm and not to forget the rickshaw menace. These things contribute to the bottleneck at a thoroughfare like Sharea Faisal.

The solution to the above problems can be achieved step-by-step. First, the traffic police should start an awareness campaign in the print and electronic media about traffic rules. Billboards with these rules could be put up along the roads or at street lights. Secondly, Traffic police should stop and warn people who break the law, action should be taken against them if they continue to disregard the rules. Lastly, there should be rickshaw stands in every major area so the rickshaws don’t block traffic.
