PESHAWAR: TransPeshawar, the urban mobility company set up to run the Bus Rapid Transit project’s operations, plans to purchase 360 bicycles for the bike-sharing feature of the project.

A statement issued here on Wednesday said a separate bike-lane was being constructed along the entire 28-kilometre corridor. It said that to rent out and return the bicycle, the riders would be using same Zu (Go) fare card which they would be using for buses. With a feature of the one-size-fits-all design, the bicycles will be using a step-through frame, so that it’s gender neutral and both men and women can utilise these without any hindrance, it said.

The statement said all bicycles would have easily adjustable seat posts which could be adjusted for different heights of riders. To ensure the safety of riders during low-light conditions, bicycles will have an automatic LED light and reflectors. Further to enhance the safety of riders, bicycles will be chainless and safe pedals will be used.
