BOMBAY: Hundreds of telegrams and letters addressed to Mr. M.A. Jinnah by the members of the Khaksar organisation urging ... that he should seek an interview with Mahatma Gandhi for a settlement of the political problem and many letters threatening Mr. Jinnah with dire consequences and abusing him as “a tool of the British” and a slightly torn, blood-stained coat which Mr. Jinnah wore when he was attacked with a clasp knife on the noon of July 25 were some of the exhibits that were filed in the court of Mr. Oscar Brown, Chief Presidency Magistrate, Bombay today [Sept 7].

The trial of Mohammed Sadiq alias Rafiq Sabir Mazangavi, the alleged assailant of Mr. Jinnah, commenced. After the opening address of the police prosecutor, in which he narrated in detail the assault on Mr. Jinnah, the court recorded the evidence of Mr. Jinnah and that of his Secretary Syed Ahmed Syed Yakub. Further hearing was postponed until tomorrow.

The police prosecutor in his opening address told the court that the accused who had come from Lahore belonged to the organisation known as ‘Khaksars’. At one time he was a member of a coterie in the Khaksar Organisation who had taken a vow to sacrifice their lives for the Khaksar cause.
