LAHORE: Announcing its plan to expand the operation against quackery and narcotics, the city administration claims to have confiscated 14,000 psychotropic drug injections during raids carried out by its teams.

It also sealed 328 clinics being run by the quacks in several parts of the provincial capital.

“We have decided to expand our operations in all parts of Lahore as it is a dire need to save and protect lives of the people from the clutches of quacks and drug mafia,” Lahore Deputy Commissioner Anwarul Haq told reporters at a press conference here on Friday.

Flanked by the District Health Authority’s CEO and other senior officials, the DC said from Jan 1 to Sept 5, the city administration’s teams headed by the deputy district officers (health) carried out raids and sealed 328 premises / clinics, arrested eight quacks and had 13 cases registered in various police stations.

“During the last seven days, our teams carried out seven raids, seized a huge quantity of psychotropic tablets. They also seized 14,000 injections,” he added.

The teams arrested five people involved in sale and supply of such injections and drugs.

The DC appealed to the public at large to keep seeing their surroundings and report to the administration in case of observing any suspicious activity related to sale / supply of drugs, narcotics, quacks etc.
