LAHORE: The Pakistan Air Force celebrated the Defence of Pakistan Day here on Thursday with zeal and fervour.

The day dawned with special prayers in the PAF mosques for shaheeds, who laid down their lives for the country, says a handout.

A special parade was held at the PAF Base Lahore, where the base commander read out message of the chief of air staff.

In this connection, an aerial and static display was arranged at the Lahore Base. Punjab senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. He was received by Air Vice Marshal Irfan Ahmad, Air Officer Commanding, Central Air Command, PAF.

An impressive aerial display by PAF fighter jets enthralled the visitors. Ultra light and aero-modeling aircraft display was also a source of enthusiasm for the spectators.

PAF aircraft, including JF-17 Thunder, F-16 and Mirage, in addition to ground support and other auxiliary equipment, were put on display. Other stalls included those set up by the PAF Women Association, PAF Books, Aviation Art Gallery, Historical War Pictures. Documentary films were also shown.

The event was attended by retired PAF officers, JCOs, NCOs and airmen, besides civil and military officers and other dignitaries. Students from various educational institutes were also invited to witness the aerial and ground display of the PAF aircraft and equipment.
